Seravezza is a mountain town, even if it is in Versilia: the higher mountain is Monte Altissimo(1589 m) and the town is located at the v of the two torrents Serra and Vezza, at the foot of the Alps Apuane, in the bottom of a steep valley.
In the town there is the Villa Medicea di Seravezza, summer residence of the family Medici, today seat of the Museo del Lavoro e delle Tradizioni Popolari della Versilia Storica, the public library, the historical archives and exhibitions modern and contemporary art. Noteworthy are the Church of Santi Lorenzo and Barbara and the Church of the Santissima Annunciata. In Pozzi, since 1956, the Palio dei Micci takes place: the first Sunday of May, the eight quarters (Pozzo, Madonnina, Cervia, Quercia, Ranocchio, Leon D'Oro, Lucertola e Ponte) race one against each other with jockeys on donkeys (micci in the local dialect). In the roads and the paths of this small town, in the middle between the sea and the mountain, it is wonderful to get lost in order to breathe the scent of the history and the nature.
