Saturnia is an hamlet of Manciano, in the hinterland of the Maremma, that rises on the summit of a hill. Saturnia is very famous thanks to thermal springs, already known during Roman age, from which it took the name. In Saturnia can be visited: the Rocca aldobrandesca, of medieval origin, has been destroyed many times until the reconstruction by the Senesi in the 1400's, and the archaeological Museum, that accommodates tokens from the prehistory to Roman age, brought to light in the archaeological areas of this area of the Tuscany. But those who go to Saturnia cannot leave the town without spending at least one day at the Baths: pole of tourist attraction, the thermal springs that feed the Baths involve an immense territory. According to a legend, the Baths of Saturnia, renowned also by the Etruscans and the Romans, would have been formed in the point in which a lightning fell on the Earth, lightning that Jupiter hurled against Saturn, lacking it, as a result of a violent quarrel burst between the two gods.
The sulphureous waters rise at a temperatures of 37,5°C (99,5°F)and have therapeutic properties, donating relax and well-being.
